Connor’s Diary -
how I came to be

2005

June 6:  Mommy and Daddy met today.  They had no idea it would all turn out as it did.

October 24:  Daddy thinks that this was their first date.  This is controversial, as it was planned as a happy hour.

October 29:  Mommy thinks that this was their first date. Daddy asked her to go to a hockey game, and the rest is history.

2006

September 22:  Mommy and Daddy got engaged today.  He asked her at a Foreigner concert at Chastain Park, but she couldn’t hear him.  She looked down and saw the ring and asked “Aren’t you supposed to ask me something??”.  Lucky for me, she said yes.

2007

April 28:  Mommy and Daddy sealed the deal.  I hear it was the best day ever, until I came along anyway.

September 9:  Mommy and Daddy found out they were having me.  I was pretty efficient, so they were both quite surprised.

Connor’s Diary -
   milestones

December 29, 2008

We departed for Atlanta on Connor’s second flight with a multitude of new things.   He slept a large portion of the flight, and was very good while awake, although he did talk a bit loudly on occasion.  Everyone was so good to Connor over the holidays.  He is very grateful for everyone’s generous gifts, as are we.

December 25, 2008

Christmas continued at the Rustigian household in Connecticut, after arriving via Connor’s first airplane ride.  He was a doll and slept the entire way.

December 24, 2008

Connor began his first Christmas with the Woodrings in Adairsville.  With a little assistance he actually helped unwrap gifts, but the paper almost immediately went into his mouth.

December 12, 2008

We went to see Santa at the farmer’s market today.  In an attempt to avoid the long lines and crazy parents at the mall, we opted for seeing Santa at Harry’s Farmer’s Market.  Again, he could have cared less, but Mommy and Daddy got their photos, even though, again, he couldn’t have cared less.

December 6, 2008

We put up Connor’s first Christmas tree.  He just hung out and played while we put it up, and really couldn’t have cared less, although he did like staring at the lights.

November 27, 2008

Today was Connor’s first Thanksgiving.  We had dinner at our house and Connor had his first meat - chicken - pureed, of course.  Thanksgiving with Mommy’s family is Sunday.

November 26, 2008

We went with Omi, Baba, and Mike to Stone Mountain Christmas. Connor slept through some of it, but then had his first train ride (although boring), and saw his first 4D film (he did fine until too much air blew in his face).

November 13, 2008

Month 6 well visit with the pediatrician. He’s 21.7 lbs and 28.5 inches, both still in the 97th percentile.  More vaccinations and a flu shot.  :(

November 7, 2008

Connor sat up!!!  We’d been trying to sit him in the right position, but he wouldn’t hear of it, and either arched his back or went straight for his toes and toppled over.  But all of a sudden he stayed.  He’ll still fall over after a few minutes, but he can stay for several minutes at a time, when he either gets tired or decides to eat his toes.

November 2, 2008

Today we found 2 more teeth!  These are the 2 center teeth, so he now has the 4 middle teeth in the top and the bottom.

October 31, 2008

Our first Halloween.  We went to Gran and Papa’s to go trick-or-treating with Connor’s 4 cousins.  It was a long day and he never settled down for a nap, so when it came time to go, he slept.  So we pushed the little ear of corn around in his stroller most of the night.

October 21, 2008

We attended Connor’s first library storytime.  He sat quietly and checked things out while the librarian read, and we sang a few songs.

October 18, 2008

Connor went for his first overnight stay outside of the house.  He was supposed to stay with Gran and Papa for 2 nights, but cried most of the evening, so we had to shorten it to 1 night.

Gran and Papa found tooth #6.  It’s a match for the one upper tooth.  So we have 2 matching teeth on top, and just gums in the center. :)

October 14, 2008

Connor attended his first baby playgroup with 4 other babies one year and under.  He couldn’t stand like most of the others so he couldn’t really play with them much, but seemed interested and liked the bigger-baby toys.  We’ll be going every Tuesday.

October 10, 2008

Tooth #5 came in!  It’s just barely poking through, but it’s there.  It’s the same tooth that sprouted on the 6th, but on the left side.  We now have 4 on bottom and 1 on top.

October 8, 2008

We have another tooth - the 4th!  They are coming in like mad!  It’s a lateral incisor just as the one that appeared 2 days ago, but it’s on the top just above that new tooth.

October 6, 2008

We have another tooth - the 3rd!  It’s a lower lateral incisor (just to the right of the 2 existing).  He’d been miserable the night before, and viola, a new tooth.

September 28, 2008

Today we had cereal for the first time!  He did OK.  He blew at it a few times - I think partially in response to Daddy having taught him how to stick out his tongue and blow earlier in the day - which created quite the mess.  I’m guessing that the laundry bin is going to fill up a little quicker...

September 19, 2008

It’s as if Connor has a magnetism that pulls him onto his tummy.  Turn your head and he’s on his tummy.  Roll him back over, even in his sleep, and he’s back in no time!  No more sofa for baby Connor!

September 15, 2008

Connor has lost all of his baby hair on the front.  The back is still mostly there, minus the typical bald spot in the center.  It looks as if someone cut his hair straight across the middle!

September 10, 2008

4-month well visit.  We’re up to 18 lbs 3 oz (97%) and 26 ¾ in (97%).  We have a big boy on our hands!

September 4, 2008

Connor rolled over!  He had suddenly started trying yesterday, but kept getting stuck on his arm.  Today Crystal came down from taking a shower and found him on his tummy!

September 2, 2008

Dale started a new job as Director of Development at ChoicePoint today.

August 27, 2008

Crystal had Radiosurgery at Emory today.  It was a long and frustrating day, but it’s over.  We’ll have to wait 6 months to see how successful it was.  The day got better when we saw Connor reach for a toy for the first time!

August 14, 2008

We have 2 teeth!!  Crystal stuck her finger in his mouth to massage his gums, and suddenly there are 2 teeth on the bottom!

August 3, 2008

Today we discovered television.  Crystal had just mentioned that he was oblivious to it...

July 27, 2008

Connor grasped and held on to a rattle.

July 22, 2008

Connor slept through the night for the first time!  He went from 5 hours to 8 almost overnight (no pun intended)!  He is also holding his head up when in a sitting position, although it is still pretty wobbly.

July 9, 2008

Month 2 well visit with Dr. Kelly (we love her!).  He’s up to 13 lbs 6 oz (95%!!) and 24 in (90%).  Connor got his first set of vaccinations.  It just broke our hearts seeing him in pain like that!

June 6, 2008

Today was our 1-month well visit with the Pediatrician.  Connor is up to 9 lbs 14 oz (50th percentile) and 22 ½ in long (75th percentile).  Looks like we have a tall baby!

May 6, 2008

Connor was born today.  Crystal’s water broke in the morning, and she and Dale got to sit in traffic on GA-400.

This has essentially been picked up by the blog after December 29, 2008.  Everything beyond that date will be in the blog.
